European Federation of Public Service Unions (EPSU) provides information on multinational companies  operating in the general services markets. 

European Trade Union Confederation is organising a demonstration for a 'social Europe' to coincide with the meeting of the Council of Ministers, under the Belgian Presidency, on the 13th December 2001 (Laeken, Brussels).  

Public Services International (PSI) has a range of relevant current and background documentation. 

Public Services International Research Unit (PSIRU) is a research unit, with links to the trade unions, which undertakes empirical research into the restructuring and privatisation of public services in the water, energy, waste management and healthcare sectors. Its website provides links to a host of policy, sectoral and company reports.

The European Centre of Enterprises with Public Participation and of Enterprises of General Economic Interest (CEEP) is an international association and a social partner as defined in the EU Treaty. CEEP represents the interests of its membership in the European institutions. CEEP and ETUC jointly drew up a Charter on Public Services. 

The European Commission publishes a wide range of material relating to the development and liberalisation of the single market. It also sets out what it means by public services, services of general interest and the principles of a public service charter.  

The World Bank - a major proponent of liberalisation, competition and privatisation - has a dedicated web site on privatisation.

The UK introduced distinctive regulatory mechanisms when utilities were privatised at the end of the 1990s. The water regulator and electricity and gas regulator sites host a range of relevant information.
