AIMS
  1. To understand what effects EU policies are having in water and energy (and waste) sectors
  2. To recognise how national policies are shaped by EU legislation
  3. To consider how trade unions can influence EU legislation

Water: EU requirements on drinking water, wastewater, environment, pricing

and/or Energy: competitive market and country rules

Public services: new Amsterdam draft on public services; examples of standards eg 6 amps Belgium, cf fuel poverty in the UK

Competition and job protection: how the EU procurement directives affect contracts and concessions; how the ARD protects jobs and conditions during sales or contracting-out

Representation at the EU level: how EPSU represents unions, examples of energy privatisation campaign
