Vattenfall is the main Swedish energy company. It is 100% owned by the Swedish state. There are no immediate plans to privatise Vattenfall. It is the largest power company in the Nordic region and the fifth largest in Europe. It has a strong presence in Germany through its Vattenfall Europe subsidiary, in the Finland and in Poland. It employed a total of 33,900 people in December 2002.
