Gulf Power

A 734 MW two-unit low-sulfur coal fueled facility (the first unit is expected to commence operations in early 2001 while the second unit in mid-2002). In December 1997, EME (Edison Mission Energy) accordingly concluded a power-purchase agreement with the Thailand state (EI AR97, p. 15)

The company is a joint venture 40 percent owned by MEC Laguna Power, an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of Edison Mission Energy and 60 percent owned by Gulf Electric, a Thai private holding company equally owned by Lanna Lignite and EGCO. (

The commercial operation date has been postponed to Oct. 2004 and Apr. 2005 for the first and second units respectively. (
