GdF-Suez

GdF-Suez was formed by the merger in 2009 of the French state-owned gas company Gaz de France and  Suez, the water, waste and energy company which included the European and international energy activities of the former Belgian group Tractebel. It is now one of the big five European energy companies.

The largest individual shareholding remains the French state with 35.7%.  GdF-Suez itself remains owner of 35.7% of Suez Environnement, which consists of the water and waste management operations of Suez, which were partly floated on the stick exchange as part of the merger in 2009.
