Egco

EGCO was incorporated in May 1992 by EGAT and subsequently listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand in January 1995. EGCO is the largest private sector power generator in Thailand. They own and operate about 12% of Thailand's total installed capacity.

Egco is 20% owned by CLP of Hong Kong.

EGCO's two principal subsidiaries are the Rayong Electricity Generating Company Limited ("REGCO") and the Khanom Electricity Generating Company Limited ("KEGCO"), both of which are wholly owned by EGCO. REGCO owns, finances and operates the Rayong Power Plant - a natural gas fired 1,232MW combined cycle power plant located on the eastern seaboard of Thailand. KEGCO owns, finances and operates the Khanom power plant - an oil and natural gas fired 824MW power plant located in southern Thailand. Both REGCO and KEGCO have long-term Power Purchase Agreements to sell their power generation to EGAT. Other subsidiaries of EGCO include a power plant operation and maintenance service company, an investment company for IPPs and Small Power Producer projects, and a coal exploration and development company. EGCO and these subsidiaries have entered into a number of joint ventures in business areas related to the above.
