Privatised in November 1996. Involved in electricity distribution with a concession area over 73.3% of the Rio de Janeiro state (with 1.3 million customers in 62 municipalities). In 1997, earnings amounted to 28.3 million reals after years of losses incurred. CERJ is 20.45% owned by the Endesa Group, both directly and directly (Endesa AR97, p. 48).
