One of the largest power companies in Hungary. Budapesti Eromu's six plants in Budapest have a capacity of 380MW, and the plants supply 60pc of the city's district heating.
BERt was privatised to Finnish-Japanese investor Imatran Voima-Tomen in 1997. EDF agreed to acquire a 90% stake in 2000, gaining regulatory approval in May 2001.
"An electricity contract, which enables construction of the new Ujpest 108 MW gas-fired combine-cycle power plant, was signed towards the end of the year. The powerr plant is scheduled for completion in 2001."
