Belize Electricity Limited

Belize Electricity Limited (BEL) is the primary commercial generator, transmitter and distributor of electricity in Belize, Central America. Serving more than 58,000 customers, the company meets the country's peak demand of 49 megawatts (MW) from multiple sources, which include electricity purchases from the Mollejon hydroelectric facility in western Belize, from Comission Federal de Electricidad (CFE), the Mexican state-owned electricity company, and from its own diesel-fired generation. All major load centers are connected to the country's national electricity system, which, in turn is connected to the Mexican electric grid allowing BEL to optimize its power supply options.
